Three major airports serve the Beltsville area:

A Super Shuttle operates between the Center and all three airports. See below for other transportation options from each airport. Note that driving times may be doubled at "rush hours".

The BWI Express Metro bus service operates between BWI Airport and the Greenbelt Metro Station. See details at BWI Ground Transportation site

Baltimore Washington International (BWI)

Near Baltimore, about 20 miles north of the Center. Driving time: about 35 minutes

Driving directions from BWI

  • Exit the airport onto I-195 WEST
  • I-295 SOUTH (Baltimore-Washington Parkway)
  • I-495 / I-95 (Capital Beltway) NORTH toward Baltimore
  • Exit 25, Route 1 NORTH (Baltimore Avenue)
  • Follow Local directions.
Public transportation from BWI
The MARC train service goes from the BWI Rail Station to the Greenbelt Metro Station.
USDA employees may then take the USDA Shuttle to Building 003.

Near Herndon, Virginia, about 35 miles west of the Center. Driving time: about 40 minutes.

Driving directions from Dulles

  • Exit the airport onto VA-267 EAST
  • Take Exit 18, I-495 (Capital Beltway) NORTH toward Baltimore/Bethesda Md.
  • Take Exit 25, Route 1 NORTH (Baltimore Avenue)
  • Follow Local directions. .

Public transportation from Dulles

Buses from the airport go to the West Falls Church Metrorail station
  • Take the Metrorail Orange Line (toward New Carrollton)
  • At L'Enfant Plaza, transfer to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt)
  • Then take the USDA Shuttle from the Greenbelt Metrorail station to Building 003

Near Alexandria, VA, about 18 miles south of the Center. Driving time: about 40 minutes.

Driving directions from Reagan National

  • Exit the airport via the ramp towards Washington(I-395)
  • Merge onto the George Washington Memorial Parkway/GW Pkwy NORTH
  • Take I-495 (Capital Beltway) NORTH toward Maryland
  • Take Exit 25, Route 1 NORTH (Baltimore Avenue)
  • Follow Local directions. .

Public transportation from Reagan National

  • Metrorail goes from the airport to Greeenbelt, MD.
  • Take the Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Square)
  • At L'Enfant Plaza, transfer to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt)
  • Then take the USDA Shuttle from the Greenbelt Metrorail station to Building 003
  • Taxi fare from the airport to Beltsville is about $40.00.
