Alternative Work Schedules
The linked handbook, with its appendices, provides detailed information on the administration of flexible and compressed work schedules, jointly referred to as alternative work schedules or AWS.
This is the ability to work at an alternate location other than the employee's "official duty station." The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration encourages the use of telecommuting to the maximum extent possible. Employees eligible and approved to telecommute must execute a telecommuting work agreement with his/her supervisor that covers the terms and conditions of the telecommuting arrangement.
This program is part of the departmental Workforce Quality Division, M-14, in the Departmental Office of Human Resource Management. The heart of this program is the Fitness Center that helps DOT and other Federal employees feel and look better, maintain good health and be more productive.
