Cargo Tank Rollover Prevention Summits

The tank truck industry has an outstanding safety record. However, rollovers occur in over two-thirds of serious single vehicle cargo tank accidents. Many of these crashes are preventable. We need to focus on reducing rollover accidents.

The Cargo Tank Rollover Prevention Summits will be interactive sessions where representatives from the tank truck carrier and manufacturing industries, government officials, and safety consultants will discuss rollovers and suggest improvements in driver training and carrier management practices. Highway design, electronic vehicle stability aids, and possible changes to tank trailer design will be among topics covered. YOUR input on how we can work together to reduce rollovers involving straight tank trucks, semi-tank trailers, and other vehicle combinations will be essential to the success of this effort. Training materials will be developed by industry and government for widespread use following the Summits.
