Accessibility

All solicitations for offers to lease space issued by the General Services Administration (GSA) on or after February 7, 2007, will include the new accessibility standards found in Appendices C and D to 36 CFR part 1191 (ABA Chapters 1 and 2, and Chapters 3 -10) as the Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS).

GSA has developed a Checklist that building owners may use as an aid for determining the extent of ABAAS compliance of their buildings and for determining what space alterations will be necessary before GSA can lease those buildings. This standard replaces the Americans With Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) for GSA leasing.

Send GSA your comments about ABAAS.
