The San Ysidro Trials Area is a unique slot canyon area that offers recreation for anyone with an appreciation of natural wonders. The entire recreation area lies at the southern tip of the Jemez Mountain range and is open for hiking, primitive camping, equestrian activities, and mechanical vehicles such as mountain bikes. The area is closed to off-road motorized vehicles except for the special use permitted to the New Mexico Trials Association who uses the area for competitive and practice events.

Facilities
None in the Trials Area. The Village of San Ysidro, NM, is approximately two miles east of the Trials Area for services.
Location / Access
Take I-25 to Bernalillo, then US 550 through San Ysidro. There is a paved pull off along the north (right) side of the highway approximately one mile out of San Ysidro; here you will see a dirt parking lot and a locked gate. You may either walk through the pedestrian gate, or if you rather, stop by the BLM Albuquerque District Office in Albuquerque and borrow the key.
