North Carolina Small Business Assistance
Several free counseling and training programs are available to help you get started and expand your small business. These services cover all aspects of starting and running a business, from getting a loan to developing business plans and marketing strategies.
There are also a number of local small business centers sponsored or partially funded by SBA that help women and minorities with start-up counseling and financial assistance:
- Native American Business Development Center
Assists Native Americans and other
minorities in the development of successful businesses. Provides one-on-one counseling to existing and prospective businesses
on the Qualla Boundary and throughout Western North Carolina.
- North Carolina Minority Business Development Center
Provides
free business consulting services and financial management advice to
minority-owned businesses in the state. Supported by the U.S.
Department of Commerce.
- Mountain Bizworks
Offers
a range of services (available in both English and Spanish)
- from basic business planning to in-depth business courses, from
one-on-one consultations to business loans and is the leading small
business assistance provider in Western North Carolina.
- North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development
Provides technical support, research, and information activities structured to foster business, community, and educational/leadership development.
- The Women's Center of Fayetteville
A
non-profit organization that serves as a multi-service resource and
advocacy Center, dedicated to helping women through various programs and services.
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives Association), a non-profit organization and SBA partner, offers free mentoring, business counseling and low-cost workshops.
