USAID Training Materials Adopted by Health Partners

An agreement reached at a 2005 meeting of a tuberculosis working group which includes representatives from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Project HOPE, USAID’s ZdravPlus, and the Red Crescent has paved the way for the expanded distribution of professional training materials developed by USAID to 1,200 healthcare workers at TB DOTS pilot programs in Turkmenistan by the Red Crescent.

The working group discussed the strategy of health promotion and the cross-utilization of existing quality materials that had been produced by international partners. Among those recommended for shared use were ZdravPlus’ Interpersonal Communication training materials for nurses working on DOTS pilots, which have since been incorporated into the Red Crescent’s trainings.
