Cottonwood Campground - South Unit

The campground is operated on a first-come, first-served basis (no reservations). There are 76 sites with many pull-through sites for RVs and several walk-in sites for tent campers. There are no hook-ups for water, sewer, or electric. There is no dump station. (A dump station is available in Medora.) A picnic table and grill are located in each site. Restroom facilities with flush toilets and sinks (no showers), and spigots for drinking water are located throughout the campground and are available May - September. Each site is limited to a maximum of 6 people. The fee is $10 per site per night May - September and $5.00 per site per night October - April.

A group site is available for groups consisting of 7 to 20 people. The fee is $2 per person per night with a minimum fee of $20 per night. Reservations are accepted beginning March 1. For reservations, call 701-623-4730 ext. 3426.

Cannonball concretions  

Did You Know?
Cannonball concretions can be found along the North Unit Scenic Drive. They were formed by the selective precipitation of mineral-rich groundwater and are nearly spherical because the sandstone in which sand grains were cemented together was of uniform permeability.
