Observers and assistants are needed to participate in the annual Christmas Bird Counts in the North Dakota badlands.

The Medora Count will take place on Sunday, December 21, starting at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time at the South Unit Visitor Center of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The North Unit Count will be held on Monday, December 22nd, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Central Time at the park’s North Unit Visitor Center. Birders will be assigned areas to cover before they go into the field, so if participants plan on arriving later in the morning, they should call in advance for directions.

Birders need to bring their own binoculars and warm clothing. Hot drinks will be provided at the park visitor centers.

For further information, contact the park at 701-623-4466.
