In 2005, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared National Maritime Day to be a Day of Prayer for Seafarers and People of the Sea. The Apostleship of the Sea sponsors a mass in Washington, DC. This year's Maritime Day Mass will be held at St. Dominic Church, a church with historic ties to Washington's waterfront and to people who earn their living on the water. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick will be the celebrant. All who wish to pray for Seafarers and other People of the Sea are welcome to attend.
