Information & Referral
The Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC) is the nation’s largest repository of information on health issues specific to African Americans, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Hispanics, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders.
The resource center collects and distributes information on a wide variety of health topics. This would include cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke, diabetes, homicide, suicide, unintentional injuries, HIV/AIDS, infant mortality, substance abuse and a host of others.
Unlike a clearinghouse, OMHRC offers customized responses to telephone, e-mail and mail inquiries. The resource center can provide database searches, funding searches, and current data and statistics on a variety of health conditions and issues affecting racial and ethnic minorities. The center also disseminates targeted publications, and provides referrals to local, state and national organizations.
All OMHRC services are free, and can be obtained by calling toll-free 1-800-444-6472. Or send e-mail to mailto:info@omhrc.gov, if hearing impaired, call 301-251-1432. Information Specialists are available from 9AM to 5 PM, Eastern Time, Monday through Friday to respond in English or Spanish.
