Project Title: Training & Outreach for Older Adults on Indoor Environmental Health Hazards

Brief Summary: The project will educate and engage older Americans in preventing respiratory problems associated with indoor environmental health hazards. The group will accomplish this by educating older Americans about indoor environmental health and equipping them to educate their peers. The group will develop a training curriculum for low-income older adults focused on respiratory health and indoor environmental hazards. The group will pilot the training in Cleveland, evaluate and refine the training, and make the training available to community organizations around the country and through networks of senior Americans.

Environmental outcomes: The project will increase the ability of participants to prevent respiratory problems associated with indoor environmental health hazards. Participants will know what resources and services (that) are available to (help them) reduce or eliminate environmental health threats in the home. This grant will fund the development of a curriculum that can be used by peer educators serving older Americans in communities across the country.
