Memorial Day Ceremony to be Held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery

The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs will present a Memorial Day ceremony to be held Monday, May 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland, in North Little Rock. The keynote address will be given by Governor Mike Beebe. Also, in attendance, will be Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, Senator Mark Pryor, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, Major General William Wofford , and Colonel Gregory Otey. State Command Sergeant Major Deborah Collins of the Arkansas Army National Guard will be our Master of Ceremonies. Other participants will be the Patriot Guard Riders, the 106th Arkansas Army National Guard Band, and the India Co., 3rd BN, 23rd Marines Honor Guard Firing Detail. Rex Roark, Arkansas Veterans’ Commission Chairman and Fleet Reserve Association President, will conduct the sea service portion of the ceremony.

Public parking will be available at Camp Robinson through their Maryland Avenue gate and at the Hwy. 107 Wal-Mart parking lot where busses and vans will transport individuals to the state cemetery starting at 8:30 a.m. Handicapped parking will be at Woody’s Sherwood Forest on Maryland.

Individuals are encouraged to bring umbrellas rain-or-shine. Water will be provided.

Memorial Day is a day that we can come together to pay respect to those who have meant so much to our families, friends and our nation. We wish to remember their bravery, honor their service, and pay respect to their memory. Please join us in remembering all that they have given to us.

New CBOC Contractor in Jonesboro

(Little Rock) The VA has contracted with a new provider for the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Jonesboro. There will be no interruption in VA care. The Memphis VAMC will continue providing the high quality level of patient care to veterans in the Jonesboro area. Effective June 1, 2009, Ambulatory Care Solutions (ACS) will serve as provider for veterans at the Jonesboro CBOC. The location for the new clinic is 1901 Woodsprings Rd., Jonesboro, AR  72401 (next to the Big Lots store). A letter to patients gives information on the new location. The FAQs and VA news release will provide you with more information on the CBOC change.
