In cooperation with other U.S. Government agencies, USAID plays a leadership role in United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) negotiations on issues of relevance to developing and transitioning countries, and has provided technical assistance to help these countries to develop strategies related to capacity building, technology cooperation, adaptation, and targeted policy reform in order to fulfill their UNFCCC commitments.

As we move from Bali to Poznan to Copenhagen, the United States will continue to engage constructively to contribute to an agreed outcome on a post-2012 arrangement that is both environmentally effective and economically sustainable.
