Global Climate Change: Annual Reporting

As a federal government agency, USAID is subject to reporting on annual climate change expenditures and activities. Each year, the Global Climate Change Team reports to Congress, the White House, U.S. government agencies, and the public on the climate-related activities of USAID.

USAID’S IMPACT on LAND MANAGEMENT: 1998-2008
Graph shows fiscal years 1998-2008 vs. area in millions of hectares: 55 in 1998, 57 in 1999, 66 in 2000, 94 in 2001, 120 in 2002, 147 in 2003, 275 in 2004, 300 in 2005, 321 in 2006, 120 in 2007, 97 in 2008.

Total area in which USAID has promoted the conservation of carbon stocks. FY08 is lower because the indicator was changed to measure annual hectares under improved management, rather than cumulative hectares as had been done in previous years.
