Abstract

A test of new thunderstorm forecast products for severe weather avoidance planning was conducted in 1998. The test employed a new collaborative forecasting procedure. Weather coordinators and severe weather specialists at the Air Traffic Control System Command Center judged the accuracy of the forecasts. More than 85% of evaluations comparing the collaborative forecast products to forecast products previously available were favorable.
