Divya Chandra is an aviation human factors specialist with degrees in Psychology (Ph.D. 1993, University of Michigan) and Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering (S.M. 1989, MIT). She is also an instrument rated private pilot with 250 hours of flight experience.

At the Volpe Center, Dr. Chandra is the lead for the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) project. To read more on that project, and to download reports, see Volpe EFB Reports and Publications. Dr. Chandra also leads a project on Flight Symbology, in which she and Dr. Michelle Yeh are examining issues related to the design of aeronautical chart symbology. Her work is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration's Human Factors Research and Engineering Division (AAR-100).

Before joining Volpe Center in 1999, Dr. Chandra was a member of technical staff in the Air Traffic Surveillance group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. While there, she worked on the design and evaluation of traffic and weather data link services for general aviation and design of the computer-human interface for the Traffic Management Advisor portion of the Center-TRACON Automation System (CTAS). She has also participated in RTCA and SAE committees writing standards for cockpit displays of traffic information and data link.
