Iron Disorders Institute is a non-profit national voluntary health agency that provides scientifically supported and medically reviewed information about iron-related disorders and diseases including the following: hemochromatosis; acquired iron overload; juvenile hemochromatosis; African siderosis; thalassemia; porphyria cutanea tarda; sickle cell anemia; sideroblastic anemia; iron-deficiency anemia; and anemia of chronic disease. In keeping with its mission, the Institute publishes educational materials, provides patient advocacy, facilitates research and study iron related problems for improved quality of life and reduction of health care costs.
