The ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies has released its 2008 annual report, which provides an overview of accomplishments of the Centre's 6 research programs, including one focusing on the optimal design of marine reserve networks for coral reef conservation and fisheries management.

A new report from NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Program provides results of a project designed to obtain accurate digital boundaries for U.S. MPA sites in 5 coral territories , the state of Hawaii, and the state of Florida from the Dry Tortugas to Biscayne Bay.

A new report from the National Marine Protected Areas Center provides a summary of the actions taken to implement Executive Order 13158 on Marine Protected Areas across federal agencies in fiscal years 2007-2008, including a review of information on the release of the revised draft framework and final framework for a national system of MPAs.
