Starting with reporting on 2002 incidents, PHMSA is using a new definition of "serious incident". In the "Serious Incidents (current definition; PDF)" report, years prior to 2002 are also based on this new definition. The "Serious Incidents (original definition; PDF)" report provides the 1992-2001 serious incidents based on the original definition.]
