Air Compassion for Veterans (ACV)

Provides no-cost, long-distance air transportation for troops, Veterans and family members for medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment or rehabilitation from Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF-OEF) deployment. Some charitable assistance for transportation is also available for Veterans from earlier military service.

American Academy of Neurology

Society of neurologists and neuroscience professionals established to advance the art and science of neurology and promote the best possible care for patients with neurological disorders.

American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

National medical society of nerve, muscle, bone and brain rehabilitation experts who treat injury or illness nonsurgically to decrease pain and restore function.

American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM)

Serves as a resource to students, residents and practitioners by providing direct access to academic institutions, highlighting opportunities for clerkships/residencies and linking students to mentors that guide their career development.

Advocates for the needs of people with disabilities in their medical rehabilitation recovery.

American Nurses Association

Fosters high standards of nursing practice, promotes the rights of nurses in the workplace, projects a positive and realistic view of nursing and lobbies Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.

American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc.

Represents the interests and concerns of occupational therapy practitioners and students of occupational therapy. Works to improve consumer access to health care services and quality of occupational therapy services and promotes the professional development of members.

American Psychiatric Association

Works to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental disorders, including mental retardation and substance-related disorders.

American Psychological Association

Works to advance psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting health, education and human welfare.

American Therapeutic Recreation Association

Represents the interests and needs of recreational therapists, who provide treatment and recreational services to restore, remediate or rehabilitate functioning and independence in persons with illnesses or disabling conditions.

Caring Bridge - Non-profit Partners

Offers free, personalized Web sites that provide valuable resources for families facing cancer, premature birth, heart disease, or any serious medical situation. It also partners with non-profit organizations that offer additional helpful resources on health care.

Case Management Society of America

Informs consumers and educates physicians, other providers, payors and regulators about improved patient outcomes through the services case and care managers provide.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

An independent, non-profit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of aging services, behavioral health, child and youth services, employment and community services, medical rehabilitation and opioid treatment programs.

Hearing Loss Association of America

Provides people with hearing loss information, education, advocacy and support. Learn more about HLAA's partnership with the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology to address the educational needs of Veterans of recent conflicts. Veterans of OIF and OEF are offered a complimentary one-year membership in HLAA.

Hearing Loss Association of America Convention 2009

Service Members and Veterans returning from OEF and OIF with hearing loss are offered free registration to the HLAA convention along with a complimentary one-year membership. This event will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN, on June 18-21, 2009. Contact Nancy Macklin for registration information.

A national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping people with kidney and urologic diseases and individuals waiting for organ and tissue transplants.

National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics & Prosthetics

Non-profit trade association that shapes health care legislation and regulation through strong government relations advocacy and education of policymakers.

National Association of County Behavioral Health & Developmental Disability Directors

National voice for county and local behavioral health and developmental disability authorities. Promotes national policies that recognize and support the critical role counties play in caring for people affected by mental illness, addiction and developmental disabilities.

National Association of Social Workers

Works to enhance the professional growth and development of its professional social worker members, to create and maintain professional standards and to advance sound social policies.

National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors

Represents state executives responsible for the $29.5 billion public mental health service delivery system in all 50 states, four territories and the District of Columbia. Members play a vital role in the delivery, financing and evaluation of mental health services.

National Health Information Center

Puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. Includes links to toll-free numbers, national health days and clearinghouses on health-related issues.

National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO)

Non-profit membership organization representing hospice and palliative care programs and professionals in the United States. Provides a list of End-of-Life Care Resources.

Navy Marine Corps Relief Society - Visiting Nurse Program

Provides health education and information about health-related resources. Visiting nurses make hospital or home visits to eligible clients, improving their quality of life by promoting understanding of information about the individual's health issues.

Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs Foundation (NOVA)

Supports the advancement of VA nursing through building awareness of the need to recruit, retain and continuously train qualified VA nurses.

United Spinal Association

National non-profit membership organization formed by paralyzed Veterans whose mission is to improve the quality of life of Americans with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D). Membership is free and open to all individuals with SCI/D.
