Assistant Federal Security Director for Screening

Duties and Responsibilities:  Serves as an Assistant Federal Security Director with responsibility or airport security screening for the Transportation Security Administration.  Incumbent will manage a staff of security screeners, checkpoint supervisors, and screening managers who conduct screening, manage screening operations, and administer laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to TSA’s aviation security program.  Specific duties will include:  exercise final authority for the full range of managerial responsibilities over a staff in a 24/7 environment; make major recommendations concerning significant internal and external program policy issues affecting the overall organization, such as selections and process control; and develop performance criteria.

• Knowledge of one or more of the following areas:  law enforcement, aviation security, professional asset/military force protection ,or corporate security.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and external to the agency.
• Ability to manage a diverse workforce and lead others, including planning and assigning work, improving and controlling performance, selecting employees, and promoting EEO, human relations, and employee participation.
• Ability to express ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner, tailoring communication to the intended audience.
