 Abstract

Interactive Abandoned Mine Lands Workshop Series, Acid Mine Waste Treatment Technologies – CD (EPA/625/C-06/004) 2006

This interactive workshop presents and discusses active and passive acid mine waste cleanup technologies. It discusses the apparent disconnect between the development and implementation of these technologies. The workshop addressed five main barriers to implementing innovative technologies: information sharing, research gaps, site characteristics, regulatory barriers, and financial limitations. Each topic is addressed by technical session breakout groups, representatives from the mining industries and regulatory agencies, and the workshop presenters.
