Frequently Asked Questions about the Small Shipyard Grant Program

What is a shipyard?

A shipyard is a commercial facility that builds and delivers or repairs completed vessels.  Companies that repair or build components or ship systems are not eligible.

 

If a project is ongoing can previous payments count towards the applicant’s required portion?

A project that is ongoing may count the paid invoices as part of the applicant’s required portion; paid invoices will not be reimbursed.  Payments above the required portion will not be credited.


If a shipyard has more than one facility, should it file one application for all facilities or one for each facility?

A shipyard should submit one complete application for each facility.


Does a company that has more than one shipyard facility and as a whole employs over 1200 production employees, but each individual shipyard facility has less than 600 employees qualify?

Yes, but each shipyard facility for which a grant is sought must submit a complete application.

 

Is there an advantage to applying before the April 20 deadline?

No, projects will be evaluated beginning April 21, 2009.

 

What is the "Funding Opportunity Number" and the "Competition Identification Number" requested by Items 12 and 13 of the application form?

These items do not apply.  Please leave them blank.
