As PHMSA's chief legal official, responsibilities include:
- Serving as legal advisor to the Administrator.
- Overseeing PHMSA's comprehensive legal programs and services with regard to proposed legislation, applicable laws, rules, regulations and orders.
- Recommending or completing enforcement actions for violations of pipeline safety or hazardous materials transportation safety laws and regulations.
