WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) named Kristin Lee as the Agency's new Assistant Administrator for the Office of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs.

In this role, Lee oversees all external and various internal communications initiatives. She works directly with high-level officials within TSA and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop strategic communications efforts that are carried out nationwide.

"We are excited to welcome Kristin to TSA's senior leadership team," said TSA Acting Administrator Gale Rossides. "Her strategic communications expertise will be a great asset to this agency as we continue to evolve and meet the challenges that lie ahead."

Most recently, Lee served as the Majority Communications Director for the House Rules Committee, where she developed and implemented communications strategy for the Committee and Chairwoman Louise Slaughter.

In 2008, Lee worked on Barack Obama's campaign in Pennsylvania as a Press Secretary. Before joining the Obama campaign, she worked on Hillary Clinton's campaign in seven states from Iowa to Oregon, serving as Clinton's New Mexico Communications Director, and a Pennsylvania and Texas Press Secretary, among other roles.

Lee also served as the national Press Secretary to the League of Conservation Voters and as a strategic communications consultant. In addition to her work in Congress for the Rules Committee, Lee served as a Deputy Press Secretary for Senator Barbara Boxer. Lee began her career as an Editorial Assistant at The Los Angeles Times.

A California native, Lee earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She is also a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Masters Degree program in Political Communication.
