Leaving behind his fiancée and 15-month old son, John Botelho Rapozo was killed in a head-on car collision on his way to work on April 15, the day he was to have assumed new responsibilities as a lead transportation security officer.
At 22, Rapozo is remembered by colleagues as hard-working and dedicated. Rapozo joined TSA at Lihue Airport in Kauai, Hawaii only last July.
As requested by his family, he was buried in his LTSO uniform, which he earned very quickly but had not yet donned at the airport.
"John was an employee that all employers would have loved to have. He performed his job professionally, courteously and always with a smile," said Federal Security Director Sharlene Mata.
