Transportation Security Officers Rebecca Bartlett and Marci Reffert were recently recognized for working as a team to provide urgent medical assistance to a passenger who became unconscious at the checkpoint.
In a letter to Federal Security Director Michael Kudlacz, airport public safety manager Don Marti praised the two Lincoln (Neb.) Municipal Airport officers as being “capable, professional and compassionate” in assisting the passenger.
“It is clear that the actions of your officers may well have prevented this situation from becoming much worse,” wrote Marti. “I commend them and thank them for their excellent performance.”
Both officers attributed their quick response to medical training. Reffert has 20 years experience as a surgical technologist and Bartlett was a firefighter/emergency medical technologist for 18 years.
