Security Manager Tammy Villani and Transportation Security Officer Omar Tynsdale of Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, Conn., were at the right place at the right time for a child who suffered a seizure.

A woman approached Villani last month holding a 2-year-old who was shaking and unresponsive, his eyes rolled back. When Villani asked the mother about the boy's medical history, she had difficulty communicating due to a language barrier. Villani contacted 911 and comforted the mother.

While Villani held the child, Tynsdale applied skills learned as a U.S. Navy corpsman. He checked the boy's vital signs, elevated his legs, put ice on his chest to cool him down and prevented the boy from choking on his tongue.

Tynsdale's early intervention was credited for the child being awake when EMTs took him to the hospital for observation. "Omar kept control of the situation until Bradley International EMTs arrived, possibly saving this child's life," said Supervisory TSO Chris Tobin.
