Quad City TSOs Team Up for Stricken Man

Airport and Transportation Security OfficersWhat started as a normal day turned into an opportunity for several transportation security officers (TSOs) to save a life at Quad City International Airport, Moline, Ill.

On their way to work, TSOs LaNelle Brown, Joetta Carey, Loren Lybeck, Jon Moore and Donna Workheiser saw Frank Rullestad, 78, fall to the ground outside the airport terminal on January 5.

Recognizing that he was suffering a heart attack and unconscious, the TSOs immediately called emergency responders and rendered aid. Working as a team, they comforted Rullestad’s wife, controlled the scene and briefed arriving medical personnel.

“Because they took action as a team, they made a difference, and I'm proud of their efforts," said FSD Pat Broderick. Airport law enforcement said the TSOs’ decisive actions were instrumental in the man's survival.

“We want to thank you for your help when Frank needed you at the airport. We feel you saved his life,” the Rullestads wrote TSA.
