Child and Family Therapy Services

Picture of a familyThe Department of Mental Health (DMH) treats young people ages 5 to 18 and their families at out-patient mental health centers in Northeast, Northwest, and Southeast Washington, DC. All the centers accept walk-in and scheduled appointments and determine fees on a sliding scale basis. The Northeast and Southeast centers offer the following services for people 5 to 18 years old:

    • Individual therapy
    • Family therapy
    • Play therapy
         
    • Group therapy
    • Intensive case management
    • Medication

The Northwest center offers a comprehensive range of outpatient psychiatric services to families with children or adolescents between the ages of 5 and 17. The center treats emotional, learning and/or behavioral problems, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
