New Mexico was granted state program approval (SPA) in 1996. All 5 states in Region 6 have approved programs. Region 6 was the first to have all of its states achieve SPA.

Number of cleanups completed	1,852 (national total: 377,019)
Number of cleanups in backlog to be completed	672 (national total: 102,798)

Percent of facilities in significant operational compliance with:

	Release prevention requirements	81%
	Release detection requirements	79%
	Both prevention and release detection requirements	69%
