Energy

The Richfield Field Office oversees energy-related activities on 5.4 million acres of public land in Sanpete, Sevier, Piute, and Wayne Counties, and portions of Garfield County. Energy production in central Utah plays an important role in meeting the nation’s energy demands. Interest in energy resources within the Richfield Office has increased dramatically since the discovery of oil in the Sevier Valley in May 2004. In addition to oil and gas, the lands managed by the Richfield Office are prospectively valuable for other energy-related resources such as tar sands, geothermal resources, coal, coalbed natural gas.
