Cambridge, MD – The winners of the 2009 Interagency Resources Management Conference Award stood center-stage this afternoon to receive recognition for exceptional service to citizens, the U.S. General Services Administration announced today. GSA is sponsoring the conference.

The U.S. Department of Transportation Multimodal Hazardous Materials Intelligence Portal Team received the 2009 IRMCO team award in recognition of its collaborative efforts resulting in the design and implementation of a secure intergovernmental Multimodal Hazardous Materials Intelligence fusion center portal. The gateway enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the national hazardous materials transportation safety and security programs.

The award-winning team represented a cross-section of employees from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Winners received their awards at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay in Cambridge.

IRMCO awards are presented each year in recognition of exceptional ability to operate across organizational boundaries to improve the government's service to its citizens. Additionally, IRMCO is attended by executives and managers representing most federal agencies, academia, state, local, and international government organizations. Now in its 48th year, IRMCO is an annual forum that addresses the most important business and information technology topics and issues facing government management communities today.
