Contaminated Sediment Remediation Guidance Released

On December 28, 2005, EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response issued the final Contaminated Sediment Remediation Guidance for Hazardous Waste Sites. Contaminated sediment can significantly impair the navigational and recreational uses of many rivers and harbors in the United States, and is a contributing factor to the need for fish consumption advisories.

The guidance encourages project managers to consider a number of factors during cleanup of contaminated sediment, such as:
