2009 National ADA Symposium

The theme of the 2009 Symposium is Revitalizing the ADA. This event will take place from June 8-10, 2009 in Kansas City, MO. The National ADA Symposium is sponsored by the DBTAC-Network of ADA Centers, a project of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).

DOJ Sues Large Multi-Family Housing Developer Alleging Disability-Based Housing Discrimination

The Justice Department (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against JPI Construction L.P. (JPI) and six JPI-affiliated companies in U.S. District Court in Dallas for failing to provide accessible features required by the Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act at multi-family housing developments in Texas and other states.

Examining Conflicts in Employment Law (EXCEL) is the premier training conference for federal managers, supervisors and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) practitioners. This annual EEO conference is sponsored by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the agency responsible for enforcement of EEO laws in the Federal and private sectors. The 2009 conference will be held in New Orleans, LA from July 27-30, 2009.

The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 & the ADA

President Obama recently signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Funds are being distributed by federal agencies to states and communities throughout the country to build, repair and upgrade a wide range of facilities, systems and programs. The Department of Justice is taking this opportunity to remind state and local government officials, business owners and building professionals of their obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

DOJ Sues Nobel Learning Communities Inc. for Discrimination Against Children with Disabilities

The Justice Department (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against Nobel Learning Communities Inc. (Nobel) in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia alleging the company violated Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act by excluding children with autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities from its schools and programs in several states.
