At Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) on Thursday, June 5, a female passenger on her way to Dallas presented a fraudulent passport to a TSA Travel Document Checker. The officer referred the passenger for additional screening where it was discovered that she was also holding three other forms of fraudulent identification.
After these initial discoveries, law enforcement officers were called to respond. The passenger was eventually arrested on the charge of Illegal Possession of a Fraudulent ID.
Positioned at the front of the security checkpoint, Travel Document Checkers (TDC) are an important layer of security that work in conjunction with watch list matching and other initiatives to verify and confirm the identity of individuals traveling within the aviation system. This verification of identity plays an important role in keeping the traveling public safe.
