Second SBIR Solicitation of Year has Hit the Streets

The U.S. DOT/RITA/Volpe Center has posted a second Small Business Innovation Research program solicitation. The solicitation was released on July 18th and the closing date for receipt of proposals will be September 5th.

This is part of Administrator Brubaker’s initiative to reinvigorate the DOT SBIR Program. This is the first time two solicitations have been released in one calendar year. The second solicitation includes three topics from sponsors FHWA and FRA.

The FHWA topics are “Dilemma Zone Detection and Warning System” and “Origin-Destination – Travel Time Measurement and Characterization” The FRA topic is “Cursory and Non-regulatory Removable Safety Appliances for Intermodal or Semi-Permanently Attached Railcars.”
