John A. Volpe Transportation Internship

Application Checklist

Your application package must include:
  • A two page statement of interest that describes your interest in the field of transportation and anticipated contributions if selected for the internship;
  • A current resume;
  • If you are currently participating in an accredited graduate level program, an official graduate transcript from that program, as well as an official undergraduate transcript;
  • If you are not currently participating in an accredited graduate level program, but are applying to graduate school for the 2009 - 2010 academic year, an official undergraduate transcript and a letter documenting your acceptance into or documentation that you have applied to an accredited graduate level program in the engineering, scientific, or social science disciplines for the 2009 - 2010 academic year; and
  • Three references (names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail) that have agreed to be contacted, one of which must be an academic.

The application period for the 2009 - 2010 John A. Volpe Transportation Internship is February 23, 2009 through April 15, 2009. Complete application packages must be received or postmarked by the closing date, April 15, 2009.

Selection Process

  1. A team of Volpe Center managers and experts evaluate applications and select finalists.
  2. Evaluators conduct on-site interviews in Cambridge for finalists (travel and related expenses are paid by the Volpe Center).
  3. Evaluators select the successful candidate in early May.
