U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force Apprehends Armed Robbery Suspect

In an early morning operation, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force captured 34 year old Richard Rohn during a felony vehicle stop in front of a residence located at 110 Marty Street Quincy, FL. Rohn, a resident of Gadsden County, was currently being sought by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for the offense of Armed Robbery with a Firearm. Rohn had been the target of a fugitive investigation by the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force after the case was referred to the task force by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on June 17, 2008.

On May 19, 2008 the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an armed robbery which had occurred at Tangelo Park in Orlando, Fl. Though their investigation, they identified Rohn as the prime suspect of the armed robbery and on May 21, 2008 obtained warrants for Rohn’s arrest. Investigation by Task Force members indicated that Rohn had fled the Orlando area to Gadsden County in an attempt to evade arrest and that Rohn was possibly residing with family members in the Quincy, Fl area. The Violent Fugitive Task Force requested the assistance of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office for help in apprehending Rohn after determining Rohn’s location. Task force members and deputies from the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office had several residences in the Gadsden County area under surveillance when Rohn was identified as a passenger in a vehicle arriving at the 110 Marty Street address. Rohn was arrested without incident during a felony vehicle stop performed by task force members and was then transported to the Gadsden County Jail. Rohn was booked in at the Gadsden County Jail as a fugitive from justice and is currently awaiting removal back to Orange County to face the armed robbery charges.

U.S. Marshal Dennis Williamson stated that this case is yet another example of the extraordinary cooperation between the U.S. Marshals and state and local agencies to track down and capture dangerous fugitives who are wanted for violent offenses. The United States Marshals Service in North Florida spearheads the task force which is comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Tallahassee City Police Department, and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
