How To Extract PDF Images

How to extract PDF images from the MUTCD for other uses:

1. You must download the PDF to your hard drive and open the file in the Adobe Acrobat® Reader.
2. Once you have opened the PDF, click and hold on the text selection tool.
3. While holding the button move to the graphic selection tool (see below) and release the button.
   
4. Left-click and drag a box around the portion of the PDF you would like to use as an image.
5. While the box is around your image, go to Edit > Copy (or use Ctrl-C).
6. To place the image into a Word document (.doc file) or a Powerpoint presentation (.ppt), simply go to that program, place the cursor where you would like the image, and go to Edit > Paste (or use Ctrl-V).
7. To place the image into a website, you must have an image editing program such as Adobe Photoshop, in which you would go to File > New, then Edit > Paste (or use Ctrl-V), then save as a .jpg or .gif.
