RITA Signs ITS Research Cooperation Agreement with European Commission. The Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) has established a partnership with the European Commission (EC) to conduct cooperative research on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications for surface transportation. The five-year commitment between the two organizations will further the development and implementation of global ITS initiatives, with an emphasis on vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications for safety and mobility. The RITA Administrator and Fabio Colisanti, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Information Society and Media, exchanged signed documents to finalize the agreement on Jan. 14, 2009.
