CURRENT LEGAL & REGULATORY MATTERS

  • NEW   OST ELECTRONIC READING ROOM
Four categories of records are now available without the need for a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request through a separate Electronic Reading Room on the Department's website.   They are (a) Final Opinions/Orders in Adjudicated Cases, (b) Policy Statements/Interpretations, (c) Manuals/Instructions to Staff Affecting the Public, and (d) Records Frequently Requested under FOIA.

  • NEW   The latest edition of  the DOT Litigation News  (in Adobe pdf  format) is now available.  Several times each year the Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation publishes the DOT Litigation News, which summarizes new cases involving the Department, recent decisions, and significant developments in pending cases.

  • NEW   The Department of Transportation announces substantial revisions to its regulatory information website.  In an effort to provide more information to those interested in its rules and to help them more effectively participate in the rulemaking process, the Department  has dramatically improved its website, regs.dot.gov, adding a significant amount of information on the process and regulatory requirements.  DOT believes that public participation enhances its regulatory decision-making.
