Safety InspectorWho We Are

The Office of Human Resources is part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation.

Our office provides HR leadership, policy, strategic planning, and consultative services for our managers and employees. We also provide information about our workforce and employment opportunities to the public and we manage the department's automated personnel systems.

Mission

It is the mission of the Departmental Office of Human Resource Management to provide leadership to the U.S. Department of Transportation by:

  • Delivering efficient, timely and cost effective services in a customer-focused manner;
  • Developing policies and programs to build and enhance a diverse, highly functioning workforce;
  • Providing employee-focused programs to foster professional competency and wellness; and
  • Collaborating with our partners to enhance and support organizational excellence.

Vision

Within the next five years, the Departmental Office of Human Resource Management will lead the U.S. Department of Transportation to be the employer of choice within the Federal Government and Center of Excellence for human resource programs and services.
