Recovery Act spurs cleanup progress at hazardous waste sites

Tenmile Mont; Bountiful
and Eureka
Mills Utah.
Montana mine added to Superfund list
4/8 -- EPA announced a proposal to add the Flat Creek Iron Mountain Mine and
Mill site in Mineral County, Mont., to the National Priorities List of Superfund
sites. The site contains waste tailings piles with levels of arsenic, antimony,
lead and manganese that may pose risks to health and the environment.

Recovery Act grants for clean school buses
4/8 -- EPA awarded $1.73M to state environmental agencies in North Dakota,
South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming for clean diesel projects that will improve
air quality, protect childrens health and create jobs. News

First of nearly $100M in Recovery Act funds for Colorado
3/27 -- In a ceremony at EPA's Denver office, Colorado Lt. Governor Barbara
O'Brien received $1.73M for clean diesel projects from EPA Acting Regional
Administrator, Carol Rushin. The grant is the first of $100M in environmental
stimulus funding that will improve air and water quality, cleanup hazardous
waste sites, and create green jobs in the state. Rushin also announced the
availability of an additional $7.3M for clean diesel projects in Region 8.
Applications will be accepted through April 28. News
