U.S. Department of Transportation Introduces Two New ITS Resources At Annual Meeting in Miami

The U.S. Department of Transportation is unveiling two new Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) resources at the 11^th Intelligent Transportation Society of America annual meeting in Miami June 4-7. 

They are the first ever ITS Resources Guide, a comprehensive directory of  the Department's ITS resources, including staff contacts, websites, and training; and a 20-minute videotape that shows how advanced traveler information systems can improve mobility in urban areas.

"The handy, pocket-size resource guide is the single tool that every transportation professional needs to access the rich store of ITS information and materials available from the Department of Transportation," ITS Joint Program Office Director Christine Johnson said.  "The videotape illustrates how Advanced Traveler Information Systems return control to travelers by giving them choices about time, route and mode of travel."

Free copies of  "ITS Resource Guide:  Bringing ITS into Operations," and of the videotape, "Scheduled Lives, Stressful Drives:  How Advanced Traveler Information Systems Are Changing the Way We Think about Urban Mobility," are available throughout the conference at DOT's exhibit booth, number 511.

The DOT booth features interactive computer demonstrations of ITS technologies, and DOT officials are on hand to discuss the new ITS architecture and standards conformance rule and policy among other programs.  Printed materials on a full range of ITS and transportation operations issues are available free at the DOT exhibit.
