Subject, author, title and keyword access to the collection are available through the online catalogs in the library or remotely via the Web OPAC (online public access catalog). For Volpe Center staff, most titles circulate for six months; books purchased with project funds circulate indefinitely.

Current journal issues are displayed in the Reading Room; older issues are shelved alphabetically in the periodical area. The library annually reviews its journal subscriptions and encourages suggestions for additions or deletions.
