This page provides a summary of three recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) on screening for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. They are (1) the USPSTF strongly recommends that clinicians screen for HIV all adolescents and adults at increased risk for HIV infection, (2) the USPSTF makes no recommendation for or against routinely screening for HIV adolescents and adults who are not at increased risk for HIV infection, and (3) the USPSTF recommends that clinicians screen all pregnant women for HIV. Each recommendation provides a rating and rationale.
