Images of Fall DLC Conference AttendeesThe 2007 Federal Depository Library Conference and Fall Depository Library Council Meeting was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Librarians from throughout the community gathered to network and share their expertise with their colleagues. Geoffry Swindells called the meeting to order as the new Chair of the Depository Library Council. Along with him, six council members assumed their tenure in service to the community. Please welcome:

  • Dr. Christopher Greer
  • Kathryn Lawhun
  • John Shuler
  • Gwen Sinclair
  • Victoria Trotta
  • Kendall Wiggin

Robert C. Tapella made his first public appearance as the 25th Public Printer and kicked off the conference with his keynote address. In his remarks, Mr. Tapella covered key issues such as GPO's continued financial progress, GPOExpress, the Publication & Information Sales program, digitization efforts, FDsys, and the vacant Superintendent of Documents position.

The 2007 Library of the Year award was accepted on behalf of Middendorf-Kredell Branch Library by Deputy Director Betty Murr. A selective Federal depository library since 1990, Middendorf-Kredell Branch Library is part of the St. Charles City-County Library District in O'Fallon, Missouri. Their creativity and innovation has led to the development of various programs that readily and easily bring Federal information to a very broad base of the local community.

The fall conference offers educational programs for documents librarians. Volunteers from both the library community and Federal agencies, shared their interests in topics such as Government publications in the arts, e-government services, harvesting, and knowledge management. GPO wishes to thank all those that donated their time and contributed to the overall success of the program.

Handouts and reference materials from these and other topics are available in our file repository. In order to ensure user privacy and security, documents containing user contact information (such as the registrant list) require a username and password to access. Podcasts and transcripts from the plenary sessions are available below.

All of us at GPO hope that you enjoyed the fall conference and are looking forward to the spring meeting from March 31-April 3, 2008  in Kansas City, Missouri!
