The latest versions of the ATC-45 Rapid and Detailed Evaluation safety assessment forms and the posting placards, as specified in the ATC-45 Field Manual: Safety Evaluation of Buildings after Wind Storms and Floods, are available here to facilitate their rapid dissemination in any emergency.

The Plan applies to the coordination of domestic and foreign post-earthquake investigations supported by the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). The plan addresses coordination of both the NEHRP agencies - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), National Science Foundation (NSF), and U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) - and their partners.

ATC-SEI Conference on Improving the Seismic Performance of Existing Buildings and Other Structures

A state-of-the-art conference organized by the Applied Technology Council and the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE, December 9-11, 2009.

Download News Release here

More information, including a call for papers and registration, may be found on the Conference Web Site at: http://www.atc-sei.org/

This inaugural conference, organized by the Applied Technology Council and the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), is dedicated solely to improving the seismic performance of existing buildings and other structures. The program is being planned to provide a forum for the presentation and exchange of new information on the seismic evaluation and seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings, including case studies, new discoveries, innovative use of new technologies and materials, implementation issues, needed improvements to existing standards and methods, and socio-economic issues.

TCLEE 2009: Lifeline Engineering in a Multihazard Environment

American Society of Civil Engineers
Technical Council on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering (TCLEE)
Oakland, California; June 28 - July 1, 2009

The seventh international TCLEE conference, Lifeline Earthquake Engineering in a Multihazard Environment, will be held in Oakland, California, from June 28 through July 1, 2009. The conference will focus on both the reduction of seismic risks to lifelines and on the reduction of risks to lifelines from other natural hazards (flooding, extreme winds, landslides) as well as man-made hazards and extreme events. The conference is structured to facilitate open discussions and a cross-fertilization of current practices and future directions, which will benefit the reduction of risks to lifelines from all of these hazards. For information about the TCLEE 2009 international conference, please go to:

ATC TechBriefs are short documents on subjects of interest to earthquake engineering professionals. TechBriefs summarize research that is relevant to design practice.
These three data collections forms, for High, Moderate, and Low seismicity regions, are taken from the FEMA 154 report, Rapid Visual Screening of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards: A Handbook, Second Edition and the companion FEMA 155 report, Rapid Visual Screening of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards: Supporting Documentation, Second Edition. The rapid visual screening procedure (RVS) has been developed to be implemented by a government agency or corporate owner of buildings, or the building department of a city or other community to identify, inventory, and rank buildings that are potentially seismically hazardous.
The revised ATC-38 Postearthquake Building Assessment Forms have been made available here to facilitate the collection of building structural characteristics and performance data in the vicinity (within 1000 feet) of strong-motion recordings.

The curriculum, a product of a joint venture partnership of the Applied Technology Council (ATC) and the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC), has been developed to serve as a resource for continuing education of architects, engineers, building officials and inspectors. Bound in a three-ring notebook, the curriculum consists of several hundred pages of training materials pertaining to the seismic design and retrofit of wood-frame buildings, concrete and masonry construction, and nonstructural components. The curriculum contains six multi-part two-color Briefing Papers and Job Aids to facilitate the building design, inspection and construction process, all downloadable.
